Project Ability is a force to be reckoned with.

Project Ability is a tour-de-force when it comes to developing young film talent in Scotland. With three new elements to existing film projects aimed at young people with disabilities, Project Ability is a force to be reckoned with.

SCOTTISH FILM TALENT ON TOUR

Entries from Scotland to The Co-operative Film Festival in 2009 will preview at the Glasgow Youth Film Festival, on 8 & 13 February 2010, and for the first time it will go on tour to Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness.

From the funny and fantastical to the poignant and thought provoking, the animations, documentaries, spoofs and dramas shown will educate, charm and entertain festival audiences.
For young people aged 18-22 years, who attend the screenings, free film workshops will be offered afterwards to encourage and inspire more young film makers.
This is the third year that Project Ability has hosted The Co-operative Film Festival.

THE CO-OPERATIVE SPONSOR FILM WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

We are delighted to announce a new corporate partnership with The Co-operative Membership Scotland, who is now official sponsors of the Create film programme for Project Ability’s children and young people. This sponsorship enables us to extend film making opportunities to more young people, particularly during the school holidays.

“We look forward to showing these fantastic short films from The Co-operative Film Festival in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness and continuing our work with Project Ability. We hope these films, created by young people, will inspire many more Scottish youngsters to pick up a camera and make their own films”
Elizabeth Armstrong, The Co-operative Group Scotland

“The sponsorship is an organic development of a longstanding partnership and a common desire to support the development of young film makers and promote their achievements. the continued development of The Co-operative Young Film-Makers” in Scotland.    Alex Wilde – Create Programme Manager, Project Ability

FIRST LIGHT FUNDING FOR YOUNG SCRIPT WRITERS

Young film makers aged 16-25 from Project Ability will get the chance to realise four original scripts, thanks to an award of £9,440 from First Light.

The four diverse films include a surreal drama about a journey, an animation about a wizard and his adventures, a spoof documentary on Robert Smith and a fictional drama about a naive person trying to do good but getting it wrong.

The project allows the young film makers to experience the whole film making process from start to finish - developing ideas, shooting, editing and promoting the finished films.  These will be shown on the big screen and submitted to film festivals.
