For all you Indian food lovers, we introduce to you, drum roll please! Thali , ‘Authentic Indian Tapas’!
Since opening its doors in 2008 Thali owner Harmeet Dilber and his clever team have been committed to delivering an authentic and traditional cuisine with a modern twist!
What is thali? A thali is a selection of different dishes focusing on a delicious, healthy and balanced meal, usually served in small bowls on a round metal tray. The most authentic way to enjoy this Indian cuisine, in the south of India thali is served on banana leaves.
All the produce is locally sourced, freshly prepared on sight. With a great range of meat, vegetarian and gluten free thalis available. The chefs use little oil or Ghee, so the dishes are light, flavoursome and tasty.
Tucked away on Albion street, in the heart of Merchant city, Thali is a hidden gem; the minute you set foot in the door you are transported to India, with pots of spices, flickering tea lights and glittering gold mirrors surrounding you as you walk through to the restaurant. The Dining area is described by Harmeet as ‘Traditional with a modern twist,’ A place where walls resemble those of a traditional hut, and brightly coloured Turban fabric is stretched across the ceiling (as if hanging up to dry!) Meet with modern dark polished wood, moody spotlighting and informative LCD screens highlighting the spices used in the dishes!
Thali is a unique dining experience, with great tasting fresh food, in a stunning setting. Open 7 days a week till 11pm weekdays and till 1am on a Friday and Saturday. It’s great to pop in after a long shopping trip! Why not nip in before catching a show? Or take a date for a romantic meal! The new menu launches 26th September 2010, be the first to try it out!
Last but not least ladies and gentlemen, we couldn’t leave Harmeet without asking him our favourite question; “what do you love most about Merchant City”? His response: “It’s varied, vibrant, colourful, elegant and multicultural, a hybrid of taste!” We would defiantly have to agree!
