Cool, confident and cosmopolitanRanked number four in a list compiled by USA Gay.com’s Out and About, an influential Travel Guidebook for gay men and women, they described the city as 'cool, confident and cosmopolitan'.
Although all of Glasgow can be described as 'Gay friendly' the Merchant City plays host to the majority of bars, cafes and clubs. From the cosy Brunswick bar to the lively Polo Lounge, there are plenty of venues to choose from.
The Merchant City has something for everyone. Not only is it a great place to eat, drink but it’s also crammed with loads of funky art galleries, boutique stores and cosy places to stay overnight.
It’s a safe area to walk around, day or night, easily navigated with a simple grid system of close well lit streets. Home to the Glasgay festival which operates from its base at the Q! Gallery, the city lights up mid October-mid November with a major programme of events at up to 20 venues across the city.
Year-round there is plenty of LGBT interest and some of Glasgay’s recommendations are included here.
