Description
Dramatically overlooking the river, St Andrew's, completed in 1816, soon became a focal point for Glasgow's rapidly expanding Catholic population, and in 1884 it was made the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Glasgow. This was the first piece of Gothic Revivalism in Glasgow; it has traceried octagonal towers and a statue of the apostle Andrew (Scotland's Patron Saint) in a niche at the apex of the building.
